“Where’s the party?”
It took only 15 seconds for the cashier to ask the second most popular question that we get all over the country, each time we roll up to the checkout lane with 2-4 carts loaded to overflowing. It makes me snicker a little each time I hear it.
“We’re having a BBQ for 200 of our dive buddies up in Gloucester…you’re welcome to join us if you like.”
As the cashier’s eyes then fixed upon Faith and my matching “DUI” jackets, the number one question or passing comment we get, “DUI huh, what’s that stand for?
<sigh>
With most of the shopping behind us, we loaded the rental truck with the packed coolers, and carefully arranged the hamburger and hot dog “rolls” so as to avoid the dreaded possibility of “crushage”. Squished-flat bakery products can be catastrophic…seriously! <g>
Arriving in Gloucester, Faith and I managed to get the tents set up and all of the equipment prepped, just the two of us, in under 7 hours (who-ya!). A few Advils later we were on our way to the North Shore Frogmen Dive Club, were Faith presented her talk on diving the Galapagos. Their dinner was great, and the company even better. I’m still hoping to win that Subsalve Lift Bag raffle!!! |
