Dave's DOG Blog

A second beautiful day was upon us, and preparations for the Public Safety Event began in earnest at 8AM. With all of the new additions (read: toys) added to the PSD Workshop, we wanted to make sure everything was in order well before the various dive teams arrived. In order to demonstrate the ease of set up and efficiency of the new decon “U” shower, Faith picked a diver at random, and with no instruction asked him to set it up. It took a whopping 3 minutes to be fully functional, even with stress added thanks to my best humming of the theme to Jeopardy. Following the Contaminated Water portion of the workshop, a second vict…uh…volunteer was selected to donn the PSD TLS with complete encapsulation (dry gloves, latex hood/neck seal combo). Little did he know that we would be recreating the SCUBA version of the flame thrower scene from “Spies Like Us” (before you hassle me about that obscure movie reference…Netflix it Krissy). The foam gun worked like a champ, and much to the delight of all in attendance, Chris (our volunteer) was soon covered head to toe in decon foam. For pictures, you’ll have to wait until DEMA…I was shooting the whole thing on video.

A little down time offered the opportunity to visit downtown Burlington, which proved to be as charming as I’d always imagined. Vermonters are truly unique and uber-friendly people. It is rather rare to have any downtime during a Demo weekend and we took full advantage of the opportunity. Blog drysuit notes
