Sleeping in is always a welcome opportunity (up at 8AM) and I made my way down to the “Breakfast” region of the main lobby. So, as a business traveler, the breakfast concept at the Holiday Inn Express should save one the trouble of having to seek out a local gas station to discover the latest aging plastic wrapped, powdered sugar mini-donut-like tasteless carbohydrate. I got a chuckle out of the fact that this breakfast bar sought to save me the drive to said gas station, and instead opted to provide the no taste mini-donuts, still wrapped for my protection, as the option for breakfast.
Public Safety got underway promptly at 10AM, leaving me to stress mildly over the fact that I was about to cook for everyone. Essentially, my offering to cook should be thought of as a serious threat. Anyway, I did my best to imagine I was part of that “Iron Chef” TV show, countdown timer to plating and all. Those guys could really eat…I had to fire up the grill twice, when some made a second trip.
I opted to skip out on dinner to get the paperwork ready for the Park Rangers first thing in the morning. In Quincy’s honor, I did make a stop over at the local Sonic, and ordered what appeared to be a gallon of Cherry Limeade and met some friendly locals hangin’ out in the parking lot. Clearly a happening place in Chiefland.
