Wednesday
After an interesting day of talking drysuits and getting in a cave dive at Ginnie Springs, I met Faith and Susan at the hotel on a blustery and chilly north Florida evening, where a plan for finding dinner was hatched. We opted for a visit to Conestoga’s Grill, a frequent haunt of the north Florida cave diver, after I quickly changed hotel rooms. It took several minutes to explain over the phone that I could enter the room and close the door, however, leaving was quite impossible, as the lock wouldn’t cooperate. Trapped inside my room with key in hand, sadly, I was actually stuck in that “BlondeStar” skit making its’ way around the Internet.
We were among only 5 or 6 other tables when we arrived at the restaurant. Susan’s only request was that we sat somewhere warm! “I thought this was Florida” and “It’s cold” were the frequent quips we’d heard in the car until seated at the warmest table in the restaurant.
Given the weather, the “Unlimited Beef stew over rice” seemed like an excellent dinner choice for both Faith and me. Our delightful server returned from the kitchen with the surprising news that they had run out of the “unlimited” entrée. <g> Of course such a non sequitur was immediately BLOG fodder. Sadly my writing skills cannot possibly convey the hilarity of the moment, and you’ll just have to trust me.
