Dave's DOG Blog
Thursday, June 1st
Up at 7AM and on the road by 8AM. The hills of western Pennsylvania seemed to conspire against the ol’ DOG Truck. Fully loaded and facing the series of rolling hills, the GPS (who we’ve nicknamed Betty) showed that we averaged 49mph. This must have been why I spent most of the day in the slow lane, climbing hills with the state mandated “Hazard” lights flashing. The truckers were very nice about it however; waving with all 5 fingers…it was the guy in the mini-van that got stuck behind me for several miles who was not-so understanding. Based on what he yelled as he drove by, waving one finger at a time, he had clearly mistaken me for Edipus. As the day went on, I did encounter one very optimistic Police Officer, who; with a very serious look, pointed a RADAR gun at the DOG Truck. After a long, hot, noisy day in the DOG Truck, that was about the funniest thing I had seen, and I actually cracked up laughing. He must have thought that was a bit weird.

Several earnest-looking TV weather people were giving the same gloom and doom weather forecast as we flipped through the TV stations over the highly caloric, sticky, carbohydrate concoctions that the hotel referred to as breakfast. True to form, the predictions did little to discourage the local Public Safety and recreational divers, with the diving day getting underway ahead of the official 10AM schedule. It was great to see some very familiar faces hitting their stride so quickly, and getting things underway for our most heavily attended Demo Day of the year.
