After a quick 7:30AM check-in with Kevin at the Dutch Springs gate, help started to arrive from all directions as the truck was unloaded for yet another day of outstanding diving. With all of the great weather we’ve been having lately, I’m getting a little concerned that we’re using up all of our credit in that department. The sun was out. The winds were light and cool, and the water a balmy 50F. Needless to say, dry gloves were immensely popular this weekend, and when they’re so easy to ZIP into place, why not!
“Just so you’re aware, we’ve got a little event going on today from about 10 until 11. You’ll probably hear some whistle blasts, and more than likely some screaming.”
The lifeguards on the point looked a little confused by my statement, but were very pleased to be suitably forewarned. With that, DUI’s first ever Drysuit Rodeo got underway. Three intrepid teams took part in the event, which consisted of “Behind the Back Zip Seal Wrangling”, “Suit Roping”, and “The Corral Swim”.
So remember the part where I said we managed to catch Faith off guard…well, Susan was soon to join that group. As I type this on the flight back to San Diego, I could very well find myself unemployed upon my return to the office tomorrow morning. In my defense, I’d like to point out that the photographic evidence from the event shows that in no way were Faith or myself in anyway involved in the Gatorade bath, that was very adeptly administered to you, our beloved leader! In truth Susan was fairly good natured about the whole incident, and “lemon” fresh all day long! <G> It certainly was a Kodak moment that will live on for many, many, many years to come. Reprisals are now however, a growing concern.

Yet another successful Dutch Springs Demo Day. A huge “Thank you” goes out to all, and especially the Dutch Springs Crew. Oh, and thanks to Stu for hanging with us after it was all over and giving us the tip on the awesome ice cream place…we really did have a good time. Somehow Susan managed to get half of the place doing the “Macarena” and the “Electric Slide”…not at the same time, of course. <g> |
