Dave's DOG Blog
Saturday, May 19th
Another early morning rise to check the emails for last minute details from the office, divers, or dealers before breakfast, and then the now familiar rendezvous at the Bethlehem Diner. Today we were joined by David Ricinti (Blue Water Divers) and for the 10th year in a row, without fail, Brita!
Susan was quite impressed by the number of divers awaiting the 8AM entry into Dutch. Of course, many of the cars, trucks, and vans were DUI Dealers, dedicated DOG Rally volunteers and soon to be DUI Test Divers. The dedication of our dealers and volunteers makes the tedium of endless flights, lost luggage, heavy lifting and days on the road fade away instantly.
The weather was better than expected, and the divers certainly were not in short supply. Saturday saw about 120 divers log multiple dives by days end. All of our help really came through today, and things flowed perfectly all day long. Once the truck was packed for the evening, Faith’s impeccable timing came through again, with several trays of appetizers arriving to entice our hungry crew before the big Hog Roast got underway. The food was great as always, and more then adequate to replace the slew of calories burned today.
Our special guests for this the 10th Anniversary of the first official Demo Day were a handful of amazing DUI dealers and one incomparable dive club, who had quite literally been there with us since Day ONE, and every Dutch Springs event without fail!

We even managed to surprise Faith with a brief tribute to her boundless energy, effort and enthusiasm at the helm of Demo Days for all of these years. For those of you who know Faith, you’ll understand how difficult it was to keep her in the dark. She somehow sees and knows all...except this time! In true “roast” style, only the best and most flattering pictures that Jeff (her husband) and I could find were used. <g> At this point, I’m only mildly concerned about any potential reprisals. Thanks to Ron and Steve “Pok” for all your help today.
Following a great evening, we made a group call to the Dick (DUI’s DOG #1 & part time truck driver) to let him know we were all thinking about him on this milestone occasion. |
