7AM and 2 “Boxes of Joe” in tow (learned my lesson in Seattle…uh…Tacoma…okay, okay…south Tacoma) we arrived with little to do but dry off the dew on the tables. Everything was prepared and ready to roll. Once we had the briefing behind us, and cleared up some confusion about the time the event actually starts, several of our veteran Crew from last year had things up and running at full capacity. The divers did not disappoint us, and arrived in a slow steady fashion all day long. We even had a few Public Safety Dive Teams that just happened to stop in to dive, surprisingly each of them knew nothing about the PSD Event the day before. We certainly enjoyed meeting them, and need to figure out a better way to get word to these intrepid divers. Like our founder always says, “Safety is a non-competitive issue.” If we can make their dives safer, it’s worth every hassle along the way. Test dives continued all day until the 5PM deadline. Rose (Brownstone staff) came through in a big way, keeping hungry test divers fed from 11AM until 2:00PM.

Our Divemasters and Instructors worked hard all day with the Test Divers, keeping the tours going right up to the last possible minute. We did run short on dive guides by the end of the day, so a huge thanks to the Crew in the water and the beach in getting every Test Diver their own fantastic, personalized DUI experience. It certainly wasn’t a day “in the rocking chair” and based on the excited stories we heard under the tents as the equipment was turned in, you did one heck of a great job!

Farrell’s Restaurant came through yet again, with a fabulous catered dinner under the stars at quarry side. Susan kept the evening presentation fun with her trademark humor. The Diversitea Trivia and prizes have become so popular that we’ve also rolled in DUI, Subslave and DAN prizes as well. Diversitea samples, Diversitea Sports Bottles, DUI apparel, Subsalve apparel and even their patented Quad Bag were once again lofted into the air to our lucky trivia winners. Clearly we need to come up with some tougher trivia questions, as everyone seemed to know the answers, and in some cases they started shouting potential answers even before the questions were complete (thanks Frank).
